The Violent and Macabre Online Posting by the Assassin Who Fired 70 Shots Into a 4th of July Parade

We begin with a gun massacre on Independence Day in which a young man armed with an arsenal of assault rifles and pistols shot over 70 rounds into a Fourth of July parade killing 6 and wounding 30. Joining us is to discuss possible motives for this latest gun murder spree, political or otherwise, is Jared Holt, a Resident Fellow at the Atlantic Council Digital Forensic Research Lab, who previously tracked and provided analysis on fringe media for Media Matters for America. He specializes in Alt-Right and so-called “New Right” media, in addition to the larger culture and influence of right-wing social media and he has studied the violent and macabre online postings by the shooter who is in custody.

Instead of a Red Wave, The Democrats Could Pick Up 4 New Senate Seats

Then we look into the latest polling indicating the Republican Red Wave may not sweep over the Democrats in November and that the Democrats could not only hold the Senate, but pick up as many as four new Senate seats. Joining us is Simon Rosenberg, the President and Founder of the New Democrat Network, a leading progressive think tank and advocacy organization. Previously, he was a writer and producer at ABC News for five years, before working on the Dukakis and Clinton Presidential campaigns where he was a member of the 1992 Clinton War Room. We discuss his new report at the New Democrat Network, “Red Wave? Hard To See One Now.”

SCOTUS Could Give Republican State Legislatures Sole Control Over Elections

Then finally, with the Supreme Court deciding to take up the North Carolina case of Moore v. Harper that could give Republican state legislatures unfettered control over federal election administration and nullify court challenges, we speak with Helen White, a counsel at Protect Democracy on their elections and voting rights team. We discuss her article at Just Security, “The Independent State Legislature Theory Should Horrify Supreme Court’s Originalists.”
